Stock Definition

It's important to define the stock with precise values since the stock dimension and material properties are used all along with toolpath creation.

To define the stock dimension, click a stock item in the project tree.

It will open the stock edit screen, which you can see here.

If geometry is already available in the project, you can click  [Extract stock dimension from geometry] to extract stock dimension from existing geometry, both 2D and 3D geometry will work.

If there is any geometry selection active, the stock dimension will be calculated based on the current selection. Otherwise, all the visible geometries are considered in this calculation.

The selected  MATERIAL will be used to choose the appropriate tool for cutting data parameters and calculating the stock weight and, where available, also the 3D part model weight.

As a stock type, you can choose from :

Cylinder

Usually used for turning setup.

!! ATTENTION !!

PART length is not the STOCK length.

The stock length is a calculated property composed of PART LENGTH, ALLOWANCE Z+, and ALLOWANCE Z- values.

Meanwhile, the PART length is the actual size of the component.

Defining correctly these properties will save you time later in project creation , since the software will use these values also to define the wcs for other side of the part and to define default values for face turning operation. You can always customize later these properties.

Block

Usually used for milling operations.

Width, Height, and Thickness are the actual stock dimension.

Is also possible to edit the allowance material in X , Y and Z directions.

Hexagon

The setting of this stock shape it's similar to a cylinder

Custom Profile Block

Is also possible to define a custom stock profile, selecting CLOSED 2D profiles.

To have better performance, it's better to keep the stock profile simple as possible, when the custom profile is selected

It's not possible to define a custom stock profile for turning operations yet.
